License plates
All EU countries have a blue marker on the left of their license plate with the European Union flag and the letters of their country. Note that some other, non-EU countries, also have this blue marker.
Roads
A large part of the E-road network is located in the European Union.
Flags
In general EU flags are a great way for identification. Note however that these flags have also been outside the European Union (e.g. in Switzerland).
